About The Position

The Program Assistant for Homeless Services plays a crucial role in supporting the efficient operation and effectiveness of the low barrier shelter aimed at assisting homeless individuals. This position involves administrative duties, client support, and collaboration with other team members to ensure the smooth functioning of the low barrier shelter. Candidates who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of homeless individuals and families are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Human Services or related field, or High School Diploma/Equivalency with 4 years of job-related experience working with persons experiencing homelessness or behavioral health needs.
  • High School Diploma/Equivalency and be a Certified Peer Specialist.
  • Act 33/34/73 clearances.
  • Pre-Employment Drug Screen.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe, supportive and quality living environment to a population of homeless adults.
  • Work in partnership with the team by engaging with the shelter guests and drop-in center participants.
  • Assist guests in carrying out activities of daily living.
  • Provide direct supervision of guests, participants, and visitors.
  • Monitor to ensure that the facility provides a safe, welcoming, and clean environment.
  • Ensure that shelter rooms and common areas are clean and maintained on a regular basis.
  • Offer compassionate and non-judgmental support to shelter guests.
