About The Position

The Shelter Monitor is responsible for overseeing the operations of the shelter, ensuring the safety and security of residents, and fostering positive relationships with individuals in the shelter. This role involves supervising residents, managing intake processes, and maintaining a harmonious environment while upholding the mission and policies of The Salvation Army.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of experience in Human Services
  • Experience working with people
  • Possess a current valid driver's license
  • Able to cook for 30-40 people
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain security & safety of the residents and the building while on duty.
  • Complete the intake process and orient new residents with the shelter.
  • Disseminate information regarding community resources available to shelter residents.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork in a neat and timely fashion.
  • Provide supervision of clients in the shelter and maintain harmony.
  • Prepare meals as needed.
  • Communicate appropriately with other supervisors, staff, and residents.
  • Assign and supervise the cleaning chores of the residents.
  • Reinforce shelter policies without discrimination or favoritism.
  • Contact immediate supervisor or Officers in case of emergency or for necessary decisions.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with residents.
  • Maintain cleanliness and security of all equipment, facilities, and grounds in area of responsibility.
  • Observe The Salvation Army's policies on confidentiality.
  • Uphold the mission, objectives, policies, and procedures of The Salvation Army.
  • Other duties as assigned.
