About The Position

Raven Village Advocate ensures the smooth operations of the shelter, provides staff coverage, assists with unit turnovers, coordinates supplies, and watches after residents’ behavior for any violation of tenant code of conduct. The Raven Village Advocate assesses and assists each client throughout their stay with life skills that may need improvement, in order to help assure that the client can maintain permanent supportive housing upon exit from the program. Goals and objectives are established for the Raven Village Advocate are evaluated and conducted by the Community Services Director.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable with computers and teaching other to use computers
  • Ability to handle complaints/conflicts in a calm and professional manner
  • Experience working with homeless and/or low-income population is preferred
  • Must have a strong understanding of historical and intergenerational trauma among Indigenous communities
  • Strong crisis intervention skills with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks under stressful conditions
  • Great customer service skills
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Lifting, stretching, pulling and pushing up to 60 lbs.
  • Continuous standing, walking and sitting

Nice To Haves

  • CPR & AED first aid certification
  • Formal professional de-escalation training
  • Experience working with Native American population and/or strong awareness of Native Culture

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an inventory of janitorial and maintenance supplies. Communicate supply needs to the Site Manager.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of property and arrange needed maintenance and repairs.
  • Track completion of these responsibilities on the appropriate forms.
  • Conduct monthly bed bug inspections and document findings.
  • Attend special event and staff meetings
  • Sort and organize incoming donations
  • Supervise resident activities at the shelter and maintain resident daily logs
  • Provide assistance to case mangers
  • Conduct room checks as needed, maintain the overall cleanliness of the Site
  • Enforce policies and procedures, adhering to program and CSC guidelines.
  • Prepare vacant bedrooms for new tenants.
  • Assist with office support services.
  • Ensure completion of daily chores and weekly deep-clean chores.
  • Provide instruction to residents when necessary.
  • Issue and enforce consequences when necessary for noncompliant residents.
  • Ensure residents who are on sobriety or mental health compliance plans are successfully completing those plans
  • Support resident safety by responding appropriately to emergencies, reporting hazards or incidents promptly, and modeling safe practices in alignment with agency policies and trauma-informed care principles. Completion of all safety-related trainings. May be asked to participate in safety meetings.
  • Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
