About The Position
The Shelter Access Specialist at Pine Street Inn is a vital role focused on providing exceptional customer service within the Men's Inn shelter. This position requires a dedicated individual who can effectively welcome guests, staff, and visitors, ensuring a friendly and professional atmosphere. The specialist will be responsible for addressing guest and neighbor concerns promptly and professionally, utilizing an electronic entry monitoring system for ID scanning through Clarity technology. The role demands a proactive approach to maintaining efficient front entry operations in a busy and unpredictable environment, which includes creating guest IDs and frequent data entry into the Pine Street system. In addition to front desk responsibilities, the Shelter Access Specialist will assist guests in accessing essential services such as food, clothing, medical care, and referrals. Ensuring a safe and secure environment for both guests and staff is paramount, which involves adhering to safety and security policies, intervening in situations related to substance abuse and mental health, and providing support for job training and educational needs. The specialist will assess guests' needs and facilitate appropriate transitional and housing referrals, acting as a resource to help them achieve permanent housing solutions. This position requires a commitment to collaboration with on-site security and other Pine Street programs, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in providing comprehensive support to shelter guests. The role is scheduled for 40 hours a week, primarily from Wednesday to Sunday, during the night shift, which includes additional pay for hours worked during late-night shifts.
