About The Position

The position involves working from drawings, layouts, and sketches to plan and lay out work, determining and selecting materials and gauges of metals. The role requires laying out sheets or structural materials to very close tolerances to secure the desired length or form. The individual will set up and operate various types of metalworking equipment, including Mechanical Shear, CNC Press Brakes, CNC Hydraulic Saw, CNC Dual head saw, CNC punch Press, Power rolling equipment, and other machinery necessary for the fabrication of sheet metal parts and welded assemblies. The job also includes making complex setups of special machines, adjusting strokes and safety devices, and checking for proper operation. The individual must detect faulty materials, call attention to excessive or recurring defects, and notify supervision of unusual equipment and operating problems. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certified Sheet Metal Journeyman.
  • Knowledge of hand working procedures in the fabrication of sheet metal parts.
  • Knowledge of welding procedures (Stick, Mig, Tig, and Spot welding).
  • Able to follow bill of operations and respective instructions.
  • Able to make economical use of materials.
  • Use hand tools and precision measuring instruments (such as steel rules, digital or dial calipers, micrometers, and protractors).
