About The Position

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Must safely set up and operate the machine to acquire quality product at the desired target speed of each run. SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY: Set up and operate the machines in a consistent manner Responsible to maintain the procedures with regard to the operation Must be able to read a scale and determine proper knife setting, sets knife blades Threads paper from roll stand around inside rollers to the knives Ability to push the rolls that are on an assist to the roll stand Rolls weigh up to 6000 lbs.; average roll weighs 3000 to 4000 lbs. Be responsible for the quality of the product manufactured with regard to sheeting, printing, and sheet measurement, all sheet length must be accurate The slitting measurement must be very true Tension gauges must be adjusted to prevent board curl, trim must be flowing into blower Pallets must be properly banded, marked for identification, checked off, and entered in the production system Must vacuum under the sheeter and use air hose to blow dust from the machine Assure guards and platforms are in place Be responsible for all equipment, tools assigned to the machine, and notify the supervisor of any additional tools or equipment that would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation Analyze and correct production problems as they occur Assist in handling and stacking When mounting a roll, it must be rolled between the two arbors of the roll stand Move pallets of sheets to the aerator Follow all instructions issued on the work jacket and advise the supervisor of any incorrect or non-recorded information that is necessary for proper set up and operation Adjust to and follow new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and assist in repair of machine malfunctions; performs routine cleaning and maintenance In accordance with our 5S system, maintain a clean work environment including the machine, floors, desks, and fans Effectively utilize any machine downtime (not including approved breaks) by assisting with set-up or performing other tasks associated with maintaining a clean work environment or as otherwise instructed by a supervisor Occasionally the Operator will be asked to perform a different job, or be temporarily placed in a different department based on production needs AUTHORITY: Must have the ability to lead a crew that has been placed with them to execute the demands of the cutting operation efficiently and to respond to oral instructions from his/her supervisor and other written instructions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have basic computer skills and possess ability to utilize software
  • Must have mechanical ability and skills
  • Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English
  • Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed
  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide both fractions and decimals, solve equations, read a tape measure, and have an understanding of both standard and metric measuring systems
  • Must become a Certified Fork Lift operator to include the clamp truck in accordance with SCT training and carry a copy of your certification with you
  • Regular attendance and reporting for work on time are necessary requirements as is availability for overtime work if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Assure guards and platforms are in place
  • Responsible for all equipment, tools assigned to the machine, and notify the supervisor of any additional tools or equipment that would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation
