About The Position

Sonderen Packaging is a third-generation family-owned complete folding carton manufacturer which means we employ quality, precision, consistency, and total product satisfaction from the design of the carton to pre-press to the finished carton. Using custom inks, hard surface coatings, and die-cut options, packages are both vibrant and highly durable. The primary purpose of the Sheeting Operator is to support continuous production flow by delivering properly sheeted materials to downstream processes in a timely and high-quality manner, contributing to overall plant efficiency and customer satisfaction. This role ensures product quality through proper setup, operation, inspection, and documentation, while maintaining equipment performance and adhering to safety and production standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Forklift operation experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all sheeting machines, including setup, make-ready, Dadex, and quick-change functions, ensuring efficient and accurate production.
  • Read and verify job tickets and sheeting schedules, confirming specifications such as sheet size, caliper, job number, customer, and load details.
  • Load, stage, and maintain paper rolls for each job; unload and stack finished sheets according to production requirements.
  • Operate forklifts, both standard and clamp truck (graveyard shift).
  • Perform and document quality checks, including make-ready and run quality checklists; ensure proper labeling and tagging of all loads.
  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and maintain optimal run speeds and efficiencies.
  • Conduct basic preventive maintenance and report major mechanical issues.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including output, material usage, and downtime.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards; properly store and manage chemicals and cleaning rags.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, especially during shift transitions.
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards; immediately notify supervisors when standards cannot be met.
  • Assist in other areas of the printing/sheeting department as needed to support overall production flow.
  • Train new operators on machine setup, operation, safety, and quality procedures.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is expected during the designated work hours, with the ability to work overtime when needed.
  • Follow safety procedures and practices to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
