About The Position

Requirements

• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent (GED or TASC).
• Ability to perform all pipe installation duties including welding, layout, and fabrication work.
• Thorough knowledge of associated hand tools and sheet metal shop mechanics.
• Ability to work inside and outside in all types of weather conditions.
• Ability to walk short distances frequently and greater distances daily.
• Knowledgeable in shop mathematics.

Nice To Haves

• Four years' experience in various skills of the trade and/or apprenticeship served.

Responsibilities

• Perform tinsmith and coppersmith duties on locomotives and passenger cars.
• Cut, bind, thread, repair, and inspect pipe connections to passenger cars and diesel locomotives.
• Layout and install piping for high-pressure steam in yards, shops, and buildings.
• Inspect and repair equipment, which may involve working in confined spaces.
• Fabricate, assemble, and install all types of sheet metal and air conditioning ducting.
