About The Position

Position Summary: Work includes all types of sheet metal/HVAC. May run sheet metal jobs as a Superintendent. Individuals should be able to read and understand blueprints, communicate effectively with all other people on the project, including our subcontractors, and represent TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner. Should be able to accept directions and/or lead and delegate the work if necessary. Focus on safety and safety practices first and foremost at all task inceptions. Responsibilities and Duties: • Coordinate, install and/or repair sheet metal and/or duct systems. • Assists with the assembly and installation of HVAC equipment as necessary. • Install hangars or supports for HVAC systems. • • Perform field fabrication of sheet metal and/or duct systems and set up the specific task or project schedule. • Make adjustments to work sequences to meet construction schedules, using own knowledge of equipment and lower-level personnel capacities. • Manage materials to ensure timely completion of the work scheduled. Ensure optimal material consumption. • Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contract and specification. • Reads blueprints and interprets specifications. • Correct punch-list items and make distribution as required. • Attend, as required, all jobsite and office meetings related to assigned projects. • Keeps equipment in good working order and insures proper and timely maintenance is performed on equipment. • Ensure the needs of general contractors, owners, and other customers as well as entrusted employees are met. • Keep the superintendent or project manager aware of all issues affecting production and schedule. • Serve as a coach and mentor to lower echelon to help them develop and improve their skills and increase their technical knowledge. • Strengthen skills to encourage improvement in other sheet metal workers. Emphasize commitment to continually improve company procedures and processes int eh be interests of the company. • Organizes work and utilizes preplanning such as the four week look ahead schedule. • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 5 years commercial experience of sheet metal/HVAC in field operations.
  • Stable work history.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal/HVAC installation.
  • Ability to fabricate offsets.
  • Working knowledge of all hand and power tools.
  • Able to do take-offs.
  • Able to install equipment.
  • Works within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.
  • Good math skills.
  • High School or GED equivalent.
  • Eyesight correctable to 20/50.
  • Able to work long hours on feet.
  • Able to lift and climb ladders and scaffolds.
  • Able to perform shift work.
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must not be afraid of heights.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must provide own basic hand tools.
  • OSHA 10 certificate

Nice To Haves

  • Prior shop experience a plus.
  • Journeyman license a plus.
  • Trade School a plus.
  • Willing to obtain additional trade licenses and/or certifications.
