About The Position

Blauch Brothers, Inc. (BBI) is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Superintendent to lead commercial HVAC and sheet metal construction projects from start to finish. This role is responsible for field leadership, crew performance, project execution, quality control, scheduling, and safety compliance. The Sheet Metal Superintendent plays a pivotal leadership role in ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest level of craftsmanship. This is a safety-sensitive position. POSITION OVERVIEW The Sheet Metal Superintendent provides direct oversight of sheet metal field operations, leading crews in the installation of: Commercial HVAC duct systems (rectangular, spiral, and specialty systems) Grease duct and welded duct systems Equipment setting (RTUs, AHUs, exhaust fans, VAVs, etc.) Prefabricated duct assemblies Specialty ventilation systems This individual is accountable not only for project results, but also for crew performance, professional conduct, and alignment with BBI’s standards and mission.

Requirements

  • Extensive commercial sheet metal experience required
  • Proven leadership experience in field supervision
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and duct installation practices
  • Ability to manage manpower and labor efficiency
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass background screening

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate expert-level sheet metal trade knowledge and mastery
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee daily jobsite operations
  • Manage manpower, workflow, and labor efficiency
  • Order materials and coordinate deliveries to maintain schedule
  • Interpret blueprints, submittals, and specifications
  • Ensure installations comply with codes, project drawings, and BBI standards
  • Identify, document, and communicate change orders
  • Maintain superior quality control standards
  • Analyze forecasting data to improve labor performance and cost control
  • Lead, train, mentor, and develop sheet metal mechanics and apprentices
  • Issue clear direction and hold team members accountable
  • Provide coaching, counseling, and corrective action when necessary
  • Conduct difficult conversations professionally and timely
  • Promote a positive, cooperative jobsite culture
  • Maintain strong communication with Project Managers, General Contractors, and other trades
  • Continually seek and develop top-tier sheet metal talent
  • Ensure jobsite safety compliance and enforce safety procedures
  • Participate in project scheduling and manpower planning
  • Maintain company-owned equipment and tools
  • Communicate effectively between field and office teams
  • Adapt quickly to changing jobsite conditions
  • Represent BBI’s mission, vision, and core values in all interactions
  • Work overtime, flexible hours, weekends, or travel as required
