About The Position

This position is responsible for fitting and assembling of complex aerospace sheet metal hardware in preparation for weld to product specifications. This position is in Northstar’s Manufacturing Department, and reports to the Production Supervisor. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary, but does not direct the work of other employees. This is a full-time position.

Requirements

• High school or equivalent experience
• 5 years’ experience with sheet metal, preferably in aerospace environment
• Able to read manufacturing operations and tooling planning Sheets
• Able to read blueprints and have some experience with GD&T
• Proficient computer skills
• Precise and organized
• Detail-oriented
• Must be dependable, professional, flexible, have a positive attitude and a solid work history
• This person is required to have the necessary tools to perform the job
• Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
• Understand Shop 5S per established Schedule and additional 5S activities as required

Nice To Haves

• Prior weld experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Fit and assemble complex aerospace sheet metal hardware in preparation for weld to product specifications
• Shear, form, roll, bend, and straighten sheet metal hardware
• Set up breaks, punch presses, expanders and other such metal working equipment
• Responsible for trimming, hand finishing, assembling, cleaning, punching, and pressure testing aerospace hardware
• Assist Hydroform operator by oiling, cleaning, de-burr, circle shear, and anneal parts
• Check and straighten sheet metal parts
• Shop 5S per established Schedule and additional 5S activities as required
• Assist with lean implementation across building
• Other duties as required
