Summary/Objective: The Sheet Metal Mechanic fabricates, assembles, installs and repairs sheet metal using relevant equipment such as plenums, fire dampers, and diffusers. Essential Functions: Installs distribution lines and equipment per plans, specifications and other contract documents Installs joints of duct such as slide and drive, TDF, snap lock, and other assemblies as required Reviews and converts blueprint specifications into shop drawings to be followed in the construction or assembly of sheet metal products Erects and installs equipment such as air handling units, VAV boxes, fan power boxes, and others as required Works safely and complies with applicable health and safety-related rules, regulations, and procedures Installs ductless mini-splits Determines project requirements, such as scope, assembly sequences, required methods, materials, using blueprints, drawings, written or verbal instructions Fastens seems or joints together with welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, or bonds to assemble components to products or to repair sheet metal items Fabricates ducts for high efficiency heating ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to maximize efficiency of systems Selects gauges or types of sheet metal or nonmetallic material, according to product specifications Trains and mentors' helper/trainees Performs other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibility: No
