About The Position

GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, fabricates high quality sheet metal signs effectively and efficiently. Coordinates delegates and provides oversight on sheet metal projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, coordinates, and delegates sheet metal projects to subordinates to ensure department meets expectations and deadlines Reviews plans and diagrams to ensure accuracy of cutting of materials to create sign parts Plans, prepares and uses materials to be cut in a matter to keep waste to a minimum Cuts materials consistent with specifications of job order Operates metal cutting equipment to accurately cut materials to job specifications Operates welding equipment to weld sign parts together Implements and maintains quality control and safety during material handling, cutting, and welding Sands, grinds, polishes, and cleans cut materials Layout materials to be used for skinning/covering sign structure Bends and shapes sign parts by hand or by using brakes according to job specifications Drills, rivets, screws, or glues sign parts together Performs pre-painting and wiring preparation by cleaning and labeling of parts Touches up paint and performs detail of signs Trains sheet metal helpers and apprentices according to YESCO apprenticeship requirements MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensures that sheet metal department has adequate parts and materials to complete projects Oversees preventative maintenance and minor repairs to sheet metal department equipment Moves materials and cut parts around the YESCO facility Maintains a safe working environment Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS: Interacts daily with employees and supervisors at the YESCO facilities to discuss sheet metal department projects TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

Eight or more years of demonstrated experience in sheet metal fabrication; completion of the YESCO or other sheet metal apprenticeship program preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Ability to read, interpret and apply specification documents ,government coding document information, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to apply geometric and algebraic mathematical calculations
Ability to move materials, equipment, cutting and completed projects
Ability to effectively communicate and to supervise employees
Must be able to meet production goals while ensuring the quality of the product
Must possess a 3G Welding certificate

Responsibilities
