Sheet Metal Job Shop Estimator We are a leading sheet metal fabrication company specializing in precision manufacturing and custom solutions. We are seeking a Sheet Metal Job Shop Estimator to join our growing team. This role is critical in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for fabrication projects, ensuring profitability while supporting production planning. If you have strong technical knowledge of sheet metal processes and a knack for numbers, this is your chance to make an impact.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes (cutting, bending, welding, finishing).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD files.
  • Proficiency in estimation software, ERP systems, or spreadsheets.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • 5 plus years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or job shop estimating.

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience with CNC machinery, laser cutting, or press brake operations is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Calculate material usage, labor hours, machine time, and subcontractor costs.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate quotations for sheet metal fabrication projects.
  • Interpret blueprints and CAD files to determine fabrication methods.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and production teams to ensure feasibility.
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing and lead times.
  • Track actual project costs against estimates to improve accuracy.
