About The Position

The Chautauqua Sports Club services include pontoon boat rentals, paddle sports, fishing supplies, sports equipment rentals, shuffleboard, lawn bowling, adult softball league, and sports events. It is operational during the nine-week summer assembly season. The hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and Saturday; 12-4 p.m. on Sunday. About Your Compensation Compensation for this position starts at $16.00/Hour and, with demonstrated experience and qualifications, candidates may earn up to $17.00/Hour. About Your Work Day Focus on improving overall field quality and performance during the summer season (weeks 1-6). Smooth out the infield/outfield lip to ensure proper playing conditions and enhance player safety. Identify and address areas of the field that may pose risks to player safety. Work closely with the team to continually assess and improve safety measures. Extend the chain link fence to first base to protect individuals from foul balls, especially along the road. Collaborate with the team to ensure the fence extension is secure and effective. Power wash the Grandstands to maintain a clean and safe environment for spectators. Ensure all surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and presentable for the season. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. About the Referral Program Chautauqua Institution’s Referral Bonus Program is a talent solution to recruit, develop, and retain a diverse workforce that encompasses all the skills and experience necessary to deliver on our goals and objectives. Chautauqua Institution will provide a $500 referral bonus (less taxes) for active employees referring a new candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90-days from the first physical date of work. In the case of seasonal positions working less than 6-months, the new candidate must remain actively employed for at least 30-days from the first physical date of work and until the closing date of the season. The closing date of the season is the last Sunday in August. About Your Schedule Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules, full and part-time, for seasonal employment during summer operations starting annually each June and concluding in August. Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre-season) and beyond season (post-season) based on business needs and candidate availability. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as a requirement. While you will confirm your final schedule with management at the time of an interview and offer of employment, you should generally anticipate the following schedule options for this position: Work 3-5 hours a week (weeks 1-6), additional field maintenance was done 1 hour before each game (held twice a week) and one additional hour a week for further maintenance, cleanup and prep for the next week’s games. About Living on the Grounds No employer-provided housing is available for this position. Applicants should plan to secure independent housing or reside within a commutable distance.
