Sealaska Heritage Institute’s (SHI) mission is to perpetuate and enhance the cultures of the Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian people, promoting cultural diversity and cross-cultural understanding. As the Archives and Collections Intern, you will gain introductory knowledge and hands-on experience in the library, archives, and museum fields. You will become proficient in the archives and collections management projects including processing collections, conducting research, working with artifacts, constructing storage mounts, and updating the online collections database. Enhance your Indigenous studies or anthropology courses while you develop skills in cultural interpretation. Your work this summer will help you become more familiar with the concept of Indigenous cultural landscapes, especially those of Southeast Alaska. This internship will take place in-person at the Sealaska Heritage Institute office in Juneau, AK. Please note, there will be 2 interns hired for this role.
