Weeki Wachee Springs Shallow Water Lifeguards are a team of talented professionals, driven by results and customer relationships, and committed to excellence. Shallow Water Lifeguards (Tube Attendants) work under Guest Services Inc. ensuring a safe environment to guests enjoying the tubing experience. What does a Shallow Water Lifeguard do? Prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies in shallow water up to 5 feet and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. What does a Shallow Water Lifeguard do? JOB SUMMARY Recreation Attendant assist by performing the duties assigned to you from the manager, while maintaining a great customer services.

Requirements

  • Minimum age: 15 years
  • Swim 100 yards continuously
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs
  • Complete a timed event within 50 seconds by starting in the water swim 20 yards Submerge to a depth of 4 to 5 feet to retrieve a10-pound object return to the surface and walk or swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and exit the water without using steps or a ladder.
  • Please note you must pass the swim test to be considered for this position.
  • Customer Services experienced preferred.
  • Ability to swim and tread water
  • Demonstrated talent for interacting with a wide variety of people; ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple priorities; ability to learn and develop new skills; ability to problem solve.
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit.
  • Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
  • Constantly communicates and receives verbal communication with other employees in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains active surveillance of the spring area.
  • Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with Red Cross policies, procedures; completes related reports as required.
  • Know how to prevent and handle emergencies in entry-level shallow water of five feet or less
  • Maintains effective and positive relationships with the guests, participants, and other staff.
  • Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines.
  • Remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.
  • Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  • Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Assists in maintaining cleanliness in Weeki Wachee Springs.
  • Responsible for opening and closing procedures.
  • Be punctual to shift.
