DeWys Manufacturing is looking for a Shake Out Operator on the Weekend Shift (Fri., Sat. & Sun. 5a-5p) A Sheet Metal Fabrication Shake Out Operator plays a crucial role in the manufacturing and production process of sheet metal products. Their primary responsibility is to operate and oversee the shake out process, which involves removing and separating newly formed metal parts or components from the molds or patterns in which they were created. This job requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and knowledge of safety protocols. They must ensure that the parts are separated without causing damage and that the workspace is kept clean and organized.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication or a similar manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Forklift operation certification may be required.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to follow them rigorously.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy metal parts.
• Attention to detail and quality control skills.
• Basic math skills for documenting and reporting production data.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• This role may require standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, and performing repetitive tasks. Physical fitness and the ability to handle the physical demands of the job are essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate Shake Out Equipment: Operate machinery such as vibratory shakeout machines, conveyor systems, hand tools or hydraulic systems to remove sheet metal parts from molds or patterns.
• Part Separation: Carefully separate individual metal parts from the mold or pattern, taking care not to cause any damage or deformities to the parts.
• Quality Control: Inspect each part for defects or imperfections, ensuring that they meet the specified quality standards. Report any issues to the supervisor.
• Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean and maintain shake out equipment regularly to ensure it operates efficiently. Report any equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to the maintenance team.
• Material Handling: Move metal parts to designated storage or processing areas using forklifts, cranes, or manual lifting equipment, ensuring they are stored safely and securely.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production, including the number of parts processed, any defects found, and the time taken for each task.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with other team members, such as welders, fabricators, and quality control personnel, to ensure a smooth workflow and efficient production process.
• Housekeeping: Keep the work area clean and organized, including disposing of waste materials properly and maintaining a clutter-free workspace.
