About The Position

Under general supervision, safely and efficiently movies trailers between dock doors, staging areas, and parking locations within the distribution center yard. This role supports warehouse operations by ensuring timely trailer positioning for loading and unloading.Operate a yard truck (shag truck) to move trailers within the facility grounds. Spot trailers at designated dock doors for loading and unloading. Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the yard truck and report any issues. Maintain accurate trailer inventory and yard organization. Communicate with warehouse personnel, dispatchers, and supervisors to coordinate trailer movements. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies. Assist with minor trailer maintenance (e.g., checking lights, tires). Monitor yard conditions and report hazards or inefficiencies.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-3 years related experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL may be required depending on facility.
  • Experience operating yard trucks or similar equipment in a logistics or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions year- round.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic understanding of trailer types and loading procedures.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Work in varying weather conditions.
