About The Position

The Shag driver is a valued team member who operates trucks with trailers for transportation of agricultural materials and merchandise on and off the Albaugh campus. Valid CDL license required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 18 years or older
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • HAZ-MAT licensure (or ability to attain) - additional endorsements may also be required
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions, and perform basic math.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with the operation of fork trucks or other heavy machinery preferred.
  • Six months of commercial driving experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Six months of commercial driving experience (CDL)
  • Experience working in a warehouse environment (e.g., product storage, product staging, forklifts, etc)
  • Driving a forklift (e.g., performing basic operations such as driving forwards, driving backwards, maneuvering in tight areas without damaging product, etc.)
  • Working with racking systems and loading/unloading pallets (e.g., pulling and placing pallets on/off vertical product racking systems and trucks, maximizing storage by stacking products vertically, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for moving trailers within the plant premises
  • Position trailers so they are correctly positioned for loading and unloading to improve efficiency.
  • Role requires strong driving skills, coordination and awareness of safety procedures.
  • Work within a confined area.
  • Follow all safety regulations for the individual as well as other employees,
  • Perform routine checks on shag trucks.
  • Safely move freight within plant yard.
  • Ensure trailers are positioned correctly for loading and unloading, which is crucial for the smooth operation of the facility.
  • Maintaining DOT Federal and State qualifications and regulations while moving transport equipment between buildings
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections on shag trucks to ensure safe working order.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve operational goals.
  • Always ensuring the complete physical safety of oneself and one’s co-workers without exception.
  • Shows up on time, reliably completes tasks by the deadline, and adapts to changes in deadlines and priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Works well with others to meet team goals and adjust to significant changes.
  • Active, physical role that includes operating a forklift.
  • Other duties as assigned.
