The Academic Advisor for the School of Film and Television supports undergraduate students in achieving successful degree completion by providing individualized academic advising and guidance. In support of this goal, the advisor also plans and executes a range of student and faculty focused activities that enhance the student experience and promote academic success. Under the supervision of the SFTV Associate and Assistant Deans, manage daily activities of the SFTV Student Success Center to ensure fair, equitable, and responsible use of resources in support of SFTV students. Plan, develop, and implement co-curricular programs to educate students about their academic opportunities, degree requirements, and registration processes. Evaluate and counsel transfer and prospective transfer students regarding admissions requirements and academic deficiencies and recommend appropriate action. Work with the Office of the Registrar, as well as other University Offices to support students through the degree clearance process. Track, monitor, and report on student attrition to identify trends and recommend plans to address high levels of student attrition. Advise students on navigating processes and the appropriate channels for requests via university resources. Act as a liaison to student-services related resources including central university departments and refer students as applicable.
