About The Position

This is skilled work in the construction and installation, troubleshooting problems, maintenance and repair of sanitary sewer mains and related appurtenances. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Foreman with ability to make judgments and work unsupervised when required.

Requirements

• Graduation from a recognized high school or an equivalent recognized certification.
• Two (2) years’ experience in the construction and installation, maintenance and repair of a sewer collection system.
• Possession of a valid Class 'B' CDL Florida Driver’s License.
• Certified for confined space.
• Knowledge of manhole construction and reconstruction.
• Knowledge of testing for the presence of hazardous gases and understands the usage of standard safety equipment.
• Knowledge of the materials, methods, practices and equipment used in the construction and installation, maintenance and repair of sewer mains and related appurtenances.
• Ability to operate backhoe, grading tractor, jet truck, vapor-rooter machine, dump truck, flatbed truck, pickup truck, T.V. camera equipment associated with sewer system and other related equipment.
• Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with other employees and the general public.
• Physical strength and agility sufficient to do heavy lifting and carrying, and to occasionally work under adverse weather conditions.
• Thorough knowledge of City’s service area and ability to accurately read and correct system maps and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the construction and installation, maintenance and repair of sanitary sewer mains and laterals.
• Performs manual labor and related work as required.
• Required to answer after hour callouts.
• Installs sewer mains and repairs works with sewer pumping as needed.
