About The Position
The City of La Vergne is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual for the position of Laborer II in the Sewer Department. This full-time role involves performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work related to the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of the city's sewer facilities and systems, as well as street and storm drainage systems. The Laborer II will work under the supervision of the Sewer Supervisor and will be responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of the city's infrastructure. This position is classified as non-exempt and hourly, with a starting salary of $19.66 per hour. In this role, the Laborer II will assist in planning, scheduling, and implementing construction and maintenance activities aimed at providing quality street, water, and sewer systems. The position requires the individual to inspect and repair streets, drainage systems, and sanitary sewer systems regularly, responding to complaints and service requests as needed. The Laborer II will also perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment, ensuring that all tools and equipment are properly maintained and cleaned after use. The Laborer II will engage in various labor-intensive tasks, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, and main and pipe repair. The individual will be responsible for determining the locations of utility lines before excavation and will communicate with residents and business owners regarding service interruptions. The role requires driving trucks of various sizes for hauling equipment and materials, as well as operating light and medium-sized construction and power equipment. Safety is a critical aspect of this position, and the Laborer II must adhere to all safety and security standards while performing their duties.
