About The Position

A Pump Station Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of pumping systems, including pumps, motors, controls, and related equipment within a pumping station. They perform both preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the efficient and safe operation of the facility.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform calculations as necessary for maintenance records.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and operating practices.
  • Ability to inspect machinery in operation and detect flaws.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance on machinery.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and may be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, gases, chemicals, solvents, grease or oils, electrical energy, slippery surfaces, uneven surfaces, or with moving objects, and odors. Maybe exposed to confined space entry, use of self-contained breathing
  • A high school diploma or G.E.D is required.
  • Valid Tennessee license with clear driving record is required. If candidate does not have a valid Tennessee driver's license, they must acquire one in 30 days of hire. CDL Training is available.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 years’ experience operating equipment.
  • Occupational and public health hazards and safety practices.
  • Pump, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • City's functions, policies, and procedures. Attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills. Time management.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine scheduled maintenance of equipment
  • Maintains records of maintenance activities
  • Reports the need for and documents major equipment repairs
  • This position is required to work overtime from time to time, as needed
  • May be asked to respond to calls for repairs outside of normal work hours.
  • Work on call day and night in inclement weather conditions; perform emergency standby duties on a rotating basis
  • Maybe exposed to confined space entry, use of self-contained breathing apparatus, heights (up to 60 feet), depths down to 26 feet, vibrations, and poor lighting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
