About The Position
As a member of the Streets Department, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the city's sewer systems. Your primary responsibility will be to clean sewers by effectively removing sludge, trash, and muck, ensuring that the infrastructure remains in optimal condition. This position requires you to operate various types of vehicles and machinery, including trucks, sidewalk plows, sweepers, and small equipment, which are essential for performing your duties efficiently. In addition to the operation of machinery, you will be responsible for loading and unloading materials necessary for sewer cleaning operations. You will also be tasked with transporting personnel to different job sites, which requires a valid driver's license and a good understanding of the city's layout. Minor maintenance on the equipment you operate will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring that all tools and vehicles are in good working order before and after use. Safety is a top priority in this role, and you will be expected to adhere to all safety protocols and dress code policies while on the job. You will also need to report any defects or issues with the equipment to your supervisor promptly. Additionally, you may be required to perform other unskilled or semi-skilled tasks related to sewer cleaning as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Streets Department.
