About The Position

Wantable is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Sewer/Apparel Quality Control to join our Fulfillment Center team. This is a hands-on role for someone who genuinely enjoys garment construction, tailoring, and working with apparel every day. As a growing, Milwaukee-based fashion company, we take pride in the quality of every piece we send to our customers. In this role, you’ll restore and repair garments, protect inventory, and ensure each item meets our brand standards before it goes back into circulation. This position is ideal for someone passionate about sewing, tailoring, or fashion construction who wants consistent, real-world experience working with a wide range of fabrics and garment types in a fast-paced fashion environment. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available, with flexible scheduling based on business needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Strong technical sewing skills with experience using industrial sewing machines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a production environment.
  • Effective communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in garment production, tailoring, alterations, or apparel quality control.
  • Experience in a warehouse or fulfillment center setting.
  • Knowledge of garment construction and textile behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality repairs on returned or damaged garments to restore them to sellable condition.
  • Sew, reconstruct, clean, and finish garments.
  • Execute precise repairs including seam reconstruction, hemming, zipper replacement, button attachment, and trim repair.
  • Ensure all restored items meet Wantable’s quality and appearance standards before re-entering inventory.
  • Inspect returned and damaged merchandise to determine recoverability.
  • Verify defects, assess construction issues, and determine appropriate resolution (repair, rework, escalation).
  • Identify patterns in vendor defects and recurring quality concerns.
  • Maintain documentation of quality findings and repair outcomes.
  • Operate and maintain sewing equipment including: Single needle Overlock Coverstitch Additional production machinery as needed
  • Interpret garment construction and construction methods to ensure structural integrity during repairs.
  • Handle a variety of fabrics and trims with care and precision.
  • Partner with QC Lead & Merchandising to communicate vendor quality issues and trends.
  • Collaborate with Operations leadership to uphold merchandise handling best practices.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to improve garment durability and reduce future defects.
  • Manage workload efficiently to meet productivity goals.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation.
  • Follow all safety and operational protocols within the fulfillment center.
