About The Position

The Sewer position at Serta Simmons Bedding involves assembling mattress components using various sewing machines. Requirements

• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• High School graduate or Equivalent GED.
• Prior sewing experience in the sewing/textile industry utilizing related machines.
• Ability to read/use a ruler, add/subtract, and calculate fractions.

Responsibilities

• Assemble panels and borders per established work instructions using various sewing machines.
• Sew borders to panel cloth and produce mattress and box spring borders and covers.
• Overcast edges of quilter border materials rolls.
• Read tickets to collect required materials and initial them accordingly.
• Operate sewing machines using foot lever and hand control.
• Sort, fold, and stack covers, borders, or panels as needed.
• Perform minor maintenance on machines, including re-threading and replacing needles.
• Maintain workstation in a neat and clean orderly fashion.
