About The Position

Assist Welder to position, align, and fit together fabricated plates, structural shapes, and weldments preparatory to assembly into structural fabricated products by performing the following duties. Setup Welder I – Entry Level

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Must be able to pass forklift certification test and drive a forklift.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attendance and dependability by consistently reporting to work on time and completing assigned tasks accurately.
They must be able to maintain a clean and organized work environment, follow all company policies and procedures, and apply a high level of attention to detail and focus.
The ability to work collaboratively with team members to support productivity and operational efficiency is also essential.

Responsibilities

Take direction from Welder they are setting up for.
Hold, position, and read tape or rod to assist in layout.
Place and move blocking, braces, and jigs to hold parts.
Hammer wedges and drift pins, and turn turnbuckles. Pull pry bars to align parts.
Grind or chip rough edges, surplus weld, or scale.
Position and turn clamps, and bolts together butt straps or parts.
Transport and furnish welding materials, tools, and supplies.
Utilize engineering drawings which display dimensional characteristics.
Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment. Perform other routine duties.
Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE
