About The Position

The Setup Technician I reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for setting up plant equipment correctly for operation, ensuring efficient use of time to meet company goals. This role involves operating and setting up pharmaceutical-processing and packaging equipment in compliance with cGMP, cleaning rooms and equipment, and performing preventive maintenance. The technician will make adjustments to machinery to ensure peak efficiency and adherence to cGMP guidelines and SOPs. They will also work closely with the maintenance team to ensure equipment is in proper working condition, complete scheduled PMs, create work orders for line maintenance, organize tasks to achieve daily goals without errors, and follow all SOPs and safety precautions. Effective communication with other departments and team collaboration are essential, as is managing parts inventory by documenting usage. Regular attendance is required, and overtime may be necessary for PMs or repairs during downtime.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanic in a GMP or Pharmaceutical environment
  • Must be able to work at a fast pace to achieve daily goals
  • Must have mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to use basic hand tools
  • Regularly required to stand and bend
  • Must be able to use hands and arms to lift and reach
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs
  • Ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours
  • Ability to lift, pull and push a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability to use both arms to push, pull or lift
  • Ability to bend and squat
  • Successfully pass a preemployment background check
  • Successfully pass a drug screen (subject to applicable law)
  • Successfully pass a reading comprehension test

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience and/or process knowledge in a Maintenance Role
  • 2 years of an Industrial Maintenance Program

Responsibilities

  • Set-up/operate pharmaceutical-processing/packaging equipment in conformance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Clean rooms and equipment according to standard procedures
  • Perform varied preventive maintenance duties
  • Perform set-up and adjustments to manufacturing/packaging equipment to ensure assigned machines run at peak efficiency and operations are within the cGMP guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Set-up/operate miscellaneous related equipment
  • Repair and/or report defects
  • Work directly with maintenance to ensure that all equipment is in proper working/running condition with no Quality Errors
  • Complete PMs in the Packaging area, as scheduled by the CMMS Program
  • Create Work Orders to maintain a Safe and Productive Packaging Line
  • Organize work to achieve daily goals with no errors or deficiencies
  • Follow and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures and Safety Precautions
  • Perform other assigned duties as may be required in meeting company objectives
  • Communicate effectively with other departments within the organization and function within a team environment
  • Control parts inventory by documenting parts used with Packaging Asset
  • Maintain regular attendance
  • Work overtime to complete PMs and/or repairs during downtime, if needed
