This position is based out of our NYC office, eligible for a hybrid working arrangement with at least (3) days per week in-office. Reporting to the Analytics Manager in the Commercial Group, the principal role of the Settlements Analyst is to provide back-office support to the Trading and Structuring functions. It is crucial in the role to recognise the time sensitive nature of the responsibilities, respond swiftly to meet tight deadlines, and complete work accurately. The Settlements Analyst is responsible for deal entry and reconciliation, renewable energy certificate (REC) management, month end settlements, transaction management, and data management. The wholesale commodities that SmartestEnergy US (SEUS) transacts include power, gas, RECs, and carbon certificates. The Analytics group is responsible for all structured products valuation, power plant optimization, market analysis, and data relied on by the Commercial group.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years in U.S. energy or commodity markets as a settlements analyst, trade control analyst, business analyst, or similar role.
  • Graduate in Business, Finance, Accounting, related field
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to influence and build relationships as a participant in a team environment.
  • Work under general supervision, is self-motivated, and proactive.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Provide deal entry support to traders and originators across all products.
  • Reconcile/resolve deal entry issues and P&L discrepancies in coordination with Risk.
  • Improve trading processes with automation.
  • Oversee timely reconciliations of REC holding account inventory to ETRM in order to maintain accurate, complete, and timely records.
  • Support REC compliance operations.
  • Assist in the improvement of internal controls related to REC inventory and deal entry.
  • Support structured product monthly settlement and provide preliminary intra-month performance analysis.
  • Develop & maintain position analysis reports.
  • Maintain detailed and easy to follow process documentation.
  • Support ETRM testing
