About The Position

This position works closely with multiple departments to ensure accurate and timely review, calculation, and preparation of payroll. The Settlement Specialist is responsible for resolving payroll discrepancies, supporting payroll processes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. This role partners with internal teams such as Operations & HR, and reports directly to the Revenue Accounting Manager.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of payroll, accounting, or related experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, calculations, and compliance considerations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently
  • Professionalism: Adapts to changing priorities, performs well under pressure, and effectively handles complex payroll scenarios
  • Collaboration: Works effectively across departments to resolve issues and improve payroll processes
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to identify trends, troubleshoot discrepancies, and recommend process improvements
  • Customer Focus: Provides timely, accurate support to employees regarding payroll inquiries

  • Transportation or driver-pay experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Review supporting documentation to validate payroll data, including driver activity, rates, and applicable earnings
  • Calculate driver pay, including regular wages and mileage-based pay
  • Interpret pay agreements, contracts, and compensation terms to ensure accurate payroll calculations
  • Audit payroll data for accuracy; identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll processing
  • Assist in the development and implementation of payroll procedures for new pay structures or agreements
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve payroll-related issues and ensure timely data flow
  • Monitor payroll reports and maintain accountability for meeting departmental goals related to accuracy and efficiency
  • Analyze payroll data to identify trends, errors, or recurring issues and recommend process improvements
  • Cross-check internal payroll records with external systems or submitted data to ensure consistency and accuracy
  • Support payroll processing deadlines by preparing and validating data for submission to the payroll processing team
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries in a timely and professional manner
