About The Position

Recruit Secure is partnering with a school network to hire a dedicated SETSS / Learning Specialist for the 2025–2026 school year. This is a full-time, school-year position, offered as a 1099 independent contractor role with guaranteed full-day pay. The organization is a mission-driven, national leader in special education support, providing a content-rich curriculum with a strong focus on character education to charter schools. This role specifically supports Middle School students (Grades 7–8), providing targeted academic and behavioral support aligned with students’ IEP mandates. The SETSS / Learning Specialist is responsible for delivering Special Education Teacher Support Services (SETSS) through push-in and pull-out instruction, working with small groups or 1:1 to ensure students with IEPs receive individualized, high-quality support to meet their academic and functional goals.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • New York State certification in Students with Disabilities (required)
  • Strong understanding of IEP development, SETSS mandates, and compliance
  • Ability to provide targeted small group and 1:1 instruction
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail)
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with middle school students (Grades 7–8) preferred
  • Experience with SESIS or similar documentation systems preferred
  • Spanish language skills are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide SETSS services through push-in and pull-out instruction
  • Deliver small group and individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals
  • Support students in ELA, Math, and/or content areas as needed
  • Implement Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) based on individual learning needs
  • Monitor and track student progress toward IEP goals
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in SESIS (or similar systems)
  • Develop and contribute to IEP progress reports
  • Develop and contribute to Present Levels of Performance (PLOPs)
  • Develop and contribute to Teacher and service provider reports
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support student success
  • Participate in IEP meetings and CSE processes as needed
  • Use data-driven instruction and intervention strategies
  • Support classroom behavior and implement appropriate interventions
  • Build a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment
  • Participate in professional development and team meetings
