About The Position

Assemble, target, maintain, and trouble shoot, most types of tooling, tool capsules, offloading devices and associated hardware involved in dry press and roll compaction production. Must be capable of improving skills necessary to assemble, install and target all production models. Must be capable of providing suggestions for continuous process improvements used to support manufacturing throughout the ceramics operation. Must be capable of providing kiln support to mechanical technicians and off shift supervisors as needed. Must be able to communicate well with co-workers, maintain a good attitude, have above average attendance and have a strong commitment to day to day production requirements.

Requirements

  • Course work in pneumatics and hydraulics at the college or technical school level desired. Experience may be substituted for schooling.
  • Minimum of two years experience as associate setup technician, or other substitute experience, as determined by manager.
  • Must be able to communicate well with co-workers, maintain a good attitude, and have above average attendance and commitment to day to day responsiveness.
  • Good verbal skills required to communicate clear and concise instructions to various personnel.
  • Good written skills required to convey information to various personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Work with limited supervision.
  • Assemble, install, and target most production tooling.
  • During the course of assembly and or maintenance work, perform a number of operations including precision bench work, installation, synchronization of press components, offloading devices and associated hardware.
  • Trouble shoot defective equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance procedures for equipment to ensure maximum machine and part life and machine uptime.
  • Acquire up to date knowledge of processes, procedures and methods pertaining to operations of machines and special equipment and tooling.
  • Advise operators and other technicians in the correct use of presses and offloading devices.
  • Submit and maintain required reports, databases and equipment files.
  • Promote and observe all safety regulations.
  • Provide an adequate written and/or verbal transfer of information to the following shift and previous shifts concerning events, and or other pertinent information that needs to be addressed.
  • Must have an understanding of targeting principles and fill characteristics of most models and presses.
  • Must be proficient in lapping most production tooling and their components.
  • Must be proficient in operating the optical gauging equipment
  • Must perform other duties as assigned.
