About The Position

The Set-Up Tech II plays a critical role in ensuring the consistent performance, efficiency, and reliability of Thermoformer and Extruder machinery within the Thermoforming manufacturing process. This position is responsible for executing precise mold set-ups and machine start-ups to maximize output and equipment utilization. The individual will actively contribute to maintaining part quality, managing material systems, and supporting cross-functional coordination. By adhering to safety protocols, quality standards, and departmental KPIs, the Set-Up Tech II ensures operational continuity and supports continuous improvement. This role also offers opportunities for growth through training and development toward future roles such as Process Technician II, while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated understanding or ability to interpret documented run parameters for molds and materials.
  • Technical aptitude and hands-on experience with machinery setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to learn and apply technical processes to support efficient and repeatable production.
  • Proficient in using AS400 and Mattec systems for daily transaction entry.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Reliable work ethic with consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of Set-Up Tech I, including mold installation, machine calibration, and production readiness.
  • Monitor part quality and complete First Article Inspection forms accurately and timely.
  • Manage material systems, including coordinating silo changes and ensuring proper material flow.
  • Monitor mechanical systems for proper operation and proactively identify potential issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve processing problems to minimize downtime and maintain efficiency.
  • Track scrap rates and implement process adjustments to meet departmental KPIs.
  • Execute and monitor production plans based on priority schedules and operational needs.
  • Coordinate with production, maintenance, quality, and logistics teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Accurately record daily production data in AS400 and Mattec systems.
  • Maintain consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality to support departmental operations.
  • Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, attend safety meetings, and report hazards promptly.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by collaborating effectively, accepting feedback, and treating colleagues with respect.
  • Take ownership of tasks, accept accountability, and communicate project status clearly.
  • Adhere to all departmental quality standards and escalate concerns to the immediate supervisor.

  • Understand and contribute to departmental KPIs, both individually and as part of a team.

  • Provide onboarding and training support to new team members.
