The Department of Chemistry requires a sessional lecturer to deliver the in-person lectures in CHM247H1S (Introductory Organic Chemistry II) during the 2026 Summer session. This course is recommended for students in the life and health science programs and is a continuation of CHM136H1 (Introductory Organic Chemistry I). The course commences with an outline of structure elucidation techniques in organic chemistry (spectroscopy) and proceeds to discuss the reactivity and properties of important functional groups. Emphasis is placed on synthetic and mechanistic principles that are applied to pharmaceutically and biologically important compounds whenever possible, providing students with a working knowledge of modern organic chemistry.
