About The Position

The Service Writer provides diagnosis and estimate of initial repairs to vehicles at the auction. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate estimates on all vehicle repairs. The Service Writer will partner internally to ensure that vehicle repairs are done in scope on time.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• 1 year experience required
• High School Diploma required
• Experience working in a service department or mechanical background
• General understanding of mechanical and technical terminology
• Organized and efficient with the available to maintain a flowing schedule
• Ability to clearly communicate
• Ability to work independently
• Valid Driver's License.
• Basic math and vehicle repair planning.

Responsibilities

• Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Develop estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor.
• Prepares repair orders by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required.
• Works with internal partners for approval on work to be performed.
• Verifies warranty and service contract coverage in developing estimates.
• Provide time estimates on repairs to schedule vehicles for auction.
• Maintain supplies, parts, and equipment necessary to complete quoted repairs timely.
• Coordinate service of vehicles after customer approval is received.
• Regularly communicate with mechanics and managers on repairs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
