About The Position

Leading Edge Equipment is hiring a detail-oriented, customer-focused Service Writer to join our team at our Michigan, North Dakota location. In this role, you’ll be the key connection between customers, technicians, and the service manager—keeping schedules on track, work orders accurate, and customers informed.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service and communication skills (in-person, phone, written)
  • High attention to detail and comfort working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work orders and customer needs at once
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn dealership/service software

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Service Writer/Service Advisor or in a service department (automotive, diesel, ag, or heavy equipment)
  • Familiarity with parts/service workflows, estimating, invoicing, and time posting
  • Experience coordinating transportation/logistics for equipment

Responsibilities

  • Open, update, and manage work orders from start to finish—through completion, invoicing, and close-out
  • Communicate with customers on service needs, timing, approvals, and next steps (phone, text/email as applicable)
  • Build and present repair estimates/quotes and obtain approvals as needed
  • Enter technician notes, labor time, and parts on work orders; review for accuracy and route for approval before finalizing
  • Support technicians by helping ensure needed parts are available and following up on shortages/expedites
  • Coordinate equipment logistics, including pick-up/drop-off and transportation between customer sites and the dealership
  • Maintain service records and customer/equipment profiles (hours, equipment details, and service history)
  • Help maintain service resources (manuals, bulletins, files) and assist with specialty tool tracking
  • Support time posting review and basic time reporting accuracy
  • Help track shop supplies/accessories and prepare replacement orders as needed
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, customer-ready service counter and work area
  • Other duties as assigned
