About The Position

The Service Worker, Streets position is an entry-level role within the City of Glendale's Transportation Department, responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled construction, maintenance, and repair work in various areas. Requirements

• One year of experience in construction, maintenance, and repair work.
• Experience in operating light, medium, and heavy equipment related to the area of assignment.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions common to the assigned areas of responsibility.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical diagrams, and maps.
• Valid Arizona Class D driver license and a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with endorsements may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled and semi-skilled construction, maintenance, and repair work.
• Operate various light, medium, and heavy equipment including brush tractors and dump trucks.
• Construct new streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and handicap ramps.
• Maintain and repair streets, parking lots, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
• Set forms and perform some concrete work.
• Notify residents and businesses of work being performed and answer questions from citizens.
• Maintain daily work records and perform computerized data entry work.
• Transport and set up supplies and equipment, making required safety checks.
• Operate city vehicles, including those requiring a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Explain and enforce rules and regulations pertaining to safety and equipment operation.
