  • Assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of Pueblo Water's water distribution system.
  • Performs field work on water main pipelines, service lines, meter sets, valves, taps, and fire hydrants under guidance.
  • Provides assistance in preparing the work site.
  • Unloads truck and distributes materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Sets up barricades and traffic control devices and directs traffic for smaller construction projects.
  • Assists in conducting water flow tests on fire hydrants.
  • Assists in making repairs to hydrants and valves as necessary.
  • Makes taps of various sizes on all types of water mains.
  • Operates a variety of hand and power tools and equipment including utility and dump trucks, tampers, air compressors, pipe cutters, tapping machines, water pumps, torches, gasoline saws, and fresh air ventilation machines.
  • Responsible for the cleaning and general maintenance of assigned tools and equipment.
  • Responds to stand-by or emergency calls for a one-week interval on a rotation basis.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Colorado Class 1 Water Distribution Operator certification, or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Colorado Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement or ability to obtain within probationary period.
  • One year of related work experience required.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools, including soldering equipment.
  • Ability to perform pipeline installation work.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and base maps.
  • Basic interpersonal skills to exchange general information and interact with co-workers and supervisors.
