About The Position

Havertys Furniture is seeking a Furniture Repair and Refinish Technician who enjoys working with their hands to build or repair items. The position involves visiting customers' homes to repair various types of furniture and upholstery. Technicians will receive 3 weeks of paid training and will be provided with a company repair van. The pay ranges from $20 to $30 per hour, depending on experience, with a schedule of Tuesday to Saturday for 8-hour days.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years old and have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Must achieve DOT Certification (company paid).
• High school graduate or GED; technical school graduates preferred.
• Proven ability to work with hands and demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Must successfully complete a physical assessment.
• Effective communication skills using speech, hearing, and customer service skills.
• Must pass background requirements and drug screen including THC testing.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in furniture repair or refinishing.
• Previous customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Visit customers' homes and repair merchandise including furniture, upholstery, cabinets, and leather.
• Use methods and materials such as Burn-in Soft Fill, Bondo, dry powders for color, aerosol lacquers, and shading lacquers.
• Buff fine scratches from dressers, nightstands, and tabletops.
• Glue and clamp components as needed.
• Drive the company-provided technician van to customer homes and return it to the store after the shift.
• Evaluate furniture repairs and actions needed to satisfy customers.
• Represent Havertys Furniture professionally while visiting customers' homes.
• Inspect and repair furniture and resolve customers' furniture-related issues.
• Create accurate on-site home reports with photos and descriptions of damaged merchandise for the Customer Service team.
• Inspect and maintain the service van and tools in good condition.
