About the position

The Service Technician position at Goodwin Tucker Group involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration equipment, and HVAC equipment at customer job sites. The role requires effective communication with customers regarding services performed and collaboration with dispatch and parts departments. Technicians are expected to maintain their tools and company vehicles, participate in ongoing training, and be available for overtime and weekend shifts as part of a rotating schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive to work site on time
  • Read and interpret work orders and repair tickets, making accurate and legible notes
  • Properly troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration equipment, and/or HVAC equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance contracts
  • Fill out work orders completely
  • Define service problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for estimates or proposals
  • Communicate with customers regarding repairs and with dispatch regarding job status
  • Order correct parts from the parts department
  • Maintain own hand tools and tools provided by the company
  • Maintain company vehicle, keeping it clean and fueled
  • Participate in Service Department training and meetings
  • Help customers with part requests and technical questions
  • Travel to branch locations as needed
  • Repair certain in-shop equipment
  • Follow company procedure manual and safety rules
  • Take part in continuing education and industry certification
  • Cross train for other positions as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • EPA certification for refrigeration technicians
  • Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration, and HVAC service terminology
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or as a team player
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that aligns with safety standards
  • Completion of a satisfactory background check and drug screen

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in commercial kitchen equipment repair
  • Industry certification in relevant fields
  • Previous experience in customer service roles
