About The Position

The Service Technician role involves daily travel to client locations to conduct consultations, assess customer needs, and discuss solutions. Responsibilities include installing new heating, cooling, refrigeration, and ventilation systems, inspecting existing HVAC systems, performing preventative maintenance, conducting performance tests, troubleshooting and repairing damaged HVAC and refrigeration systems, maintaining customer records, and managing equipment inventory. Smart Care is a national repair and service provider for commercial foodservice, refrigeration, and cold storage equipment, offering comprehensive mechanical services.

Requirements

  • Preferred 3-5 years of experience.
  • Required certification from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to handle refrigerants.
  • Required certification or associate degree from an HVAC program at a technical school.
  • Strong verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex HVAC issues to customers in an understandable manner.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Punctuality and adherence to a daily schedule with multiple appointments in various locations are essential.

  • Previous on-the-job training is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to client locations daily as scheduled.
  • Conduct consultations with customers.
  • Assess customer needs and discuss various solution methods.
  • Install new heating, cooling, refrigeration, and ventilation systems.
  • Inspect existing HVAC systems for effectiveness and safety.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems to extend their longevity.
  • Conduct performance tests using specialized tools.
  • Troubleshoot issues with current HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Repair damaged HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Maintain records of customer appointments and payment transactions, including invoices.
  • Keep an accurate inventory of all equipment and HVAC resources.
