About The Position

As a Service Technician with TEKsystems, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of commercial security and low‑voltage systems. You’ll handle both routine and emergency service calls, troubleshoot and repair complex equipment, and provide exceptional customer support. This role is ideal for an experienced technician who enjoys autonomy, problem‑solving, and mentoring less‑experienced team members.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent vocational training.
  • 3+ years of industry experience in commercial security or low‑voltage systems.
  • Master‑level troubleshooting knowledge of intrusion, fire alarm, CCTV, intercom, and access control systems.
  • Strong understanding of local and national codes.
  • Mastery in using test equipment such as multimeters, battery analyzers, and decibel meters.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass a full background and drug screening.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, policies, and procedures in English.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, twist, climb, kneel, crawl, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday.
  • Visual ability including close, distance, peripheral, depth, and color perception.
  • Willingness to work in challenging environments such as ladders, scaffolding, lifts, attics, crawl spaces, and above‑ceiling spaces.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and hold up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work a full‑time, flexible schedule, including on‑call availability and short‑notice travel.
  • Must be able to drive for extended periods during day or night.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to routine and emergency service calls, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and professionally.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, replace, and repair malfunctioning or inoperative equipment across intrusion, fire, CCTV, intercom, and access control systems.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and on‑the‑job training to junior technicians and trainees.
  • Deliver high‑quality customer support, including system functionality instruction and operational guidance.
  • Perform system testing, verification, and documentation of service activities and hours worked.
  • Maintain accurate truck stock/inventory, equipment, tools, and materials needed for daily tasks.
  • Organize and utilize technical resources to ensure efficient task execution and timely completion of assignments.
  • Complete all required service reports, documentation, productivity logs, and other task‑related paperwork promptly.
  • Maintain a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to handle additional special projects as assigned.
