About The Position

This position supports multiple customer and project sites and involves regular day-to-day travel to locations in Jackson, MS; Columbus, MS; and Tuscaloosa, AL. Travel schedules are determined by the supervisor and adjusted throughout the week based on operational needs and service requirements. RHI Magnesita is seeking a skilled, safety-focused Service Technician to support our customers and operations across Central Mississippi and Alabama. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working in industrial and manufacturing environments and takes pride in keeping critical equipment operating safely and efficiently. In this position, you’ll work directly at customer sites installing and maintaining refractory products, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and supporting high-temperature manufacturing processes. You’ll collaborate with customers and internal teams and play a key role in ensuring reliable operations in some of the most demanding industrial environments.

Requirements

  • Experience or a strong aptitude for working in industrial, manufacturing, or mill environments
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery
  • Experience performing and documenting preventive maintenance activities
  • Comfortable using basic computer systems for data entry and documentation
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, and working in industrial settings
  • Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused mindset
  • Willingness to travel locally as required
  • A strong commitment to safety and adherence to established procedures
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Refractory installation experience is a strong advantage

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and maintain refractory products at customer sites and manufacturing facilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance on industrial equipment, including inspections, lubrication, and part replacement
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and basic electrical issues to restore equipment performance
  • Conduct routine operational and safety checks to ensure equipment reliability
  • Operate overhead cranes and sit‑down forklifts to move equipment and materials safely
  • Use hand tools for assembly, demolition, adjustments, and repairs
  • Load, unload, and handle materials, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Travel to customer locations within a 200‑mile radius to provide on‑site service and support
  • Communicate directly with customers to coordinate service schedules and address technical needs
  • Accurately document maintenance activities, inventory usage, and service records using basic data entry systems
  • Follow all safety protocols, procedures, and policies to maintain a safe work environment
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support production goals and customer success
