About The Position

Technical Sales Support Service Technicians are responsible for maintaining the existing customer base in Reno and the Northern Nevada region, and for performing water treatment tests at the existing customers, primarily data centers. With the freedom of working from your home, you can work and train in a territory alongside veteran Territory Managers. The best place to live is in or very near Reno. The career track for a Technical Sales Support/Service Technician is to train to become a Territory Manager. Territory Managers are eligible for unlimited commission and a year-end bonus. As a Technical Sales Support/Service Technician, you will receive an industry competitive salary, expenses, benefits, and a $675 per month car allowance. In addition, ample technical support is provided along with continuous training. Paperwork is kept to a minimum. Compensation is based upon experience and the ability to succeed. $85,000 to $100,000 first year base for a qualified candidate. Role: Oversee the chemical cleaning, passivation, and flushing of primary cooling loops during the construction phase of large-scale data centers. Perform on-site technical lead role, coordinating with mechanical contractors to ensure water chemistry meets stringent, time-sensitive specifications and managing the logistics and documentation for each project in a Google document workflow (Google Workspace).

Requirements

  • 2 plus years in industrial water treatment, HVAC Commissioning, and/or mechanical contracting
  • Two of the following: ○ Water Chemistry Basics: Proficiency in performing and documenting field water analysis (e.g., glycol %, pH, conductivity, iron, phosphate, and inhibitor levels)
  • Project Coordination: Experience or ability to manage project timelines, including the logistics of ordering chemicals and coordinating deliveries with freight carriers and Garratt-Callahan Orderdesk / Commodity Manager
  • Direct experience: Chemical cleaning of closed-loop HVAC systems
  • Industrial water Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience in industrial water treatment
  • Mechanical Contractor Experience: commissioning or chemical cleaning of closed-loop HVAC systems
  • Communication Skills: Able to professionally interface with Clients, Mechanical Contractors, and General Contractors to drive the flushing schedule.
  • You will be a successful applicant if you have a technical degree such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, Paper Science, or Water Resources.
  • You must have a 4-year science degree to qualify for this position. You must be a capable Chemist.
  • You must live in the greater Reno area and be familiar with the industrial marketplace of Northern Nevada.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and mechanical blueprints to identify isolation valves, bypasses, and system volumes.
  • Bluebeam experience
  • Math Proficiency: Strong ability to perform volume calculations and chemical dosage rates (e.g., calculating the amount of cleaner needed for a 50,000-gallon loop). Basic ratios.
  • Data Center Experience: Previous experience working on Hyperscale or Enterprise data center build-outs (e.g., AWS, Meta, Google, or Microsoft sites).
  • Safety Certifications: Current OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction Safety certification.
  • Equipment Expertise: Experience installing and programming water treatment controllers (e.g., Walchem, Advantage, Google Workspace, WebMaster).
  • Industry Credentials: Association of Water Technologies (AWT) certifications or a Certified Water Technologist (CWT) designation.
  • Logistics Experience: Experience using inventory management software or specialized ERP systems to track orders and shipments.
  • HVAC Cleaning Equipment Experience: Familiarity with high-flow filtration skids and temporary bypass pumping setups.

Responsibilities

  • System Flushing & Cleaning: Lead the chemical cleaning and "pre-operational" flushing of closed-loop chilled water systems.
  • Water Analysis: Perform on-site water chemistry testing (e.g., pH, conductivity, iron levels, azole concentrations) to verify system readiness.
  • Mechanical Contractor Assistance: Work side-by-side with mechanical contractors to manage roadblocks, pump setups, dose chemistry, and filtration.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all chemical feed equipment and monitoring controllers are properly installed and calibrated.
  • Service Existing Datacenters: Perform service by checking residuals, swapping out filtrations, and dosing any necessary chemicals. Write a service report at the end of each service.
  • Inventory & Ordering: Forecast chemical volumes required for system volumes and place timely orders to avoid site delays.
  • Join weekly project meetings
  • Logistics Oversight: Track shipments and coordinate the delivery of bulk chemicals or IBC totes to active construction sites.
  • Documentation: Maintain precise "Daily Field Reports" and final documentation for the client (Owner's Rep) and/or mechanical contractors.
  • Schedule Management: Align chemical treatment phases with the mechanical construction schedule to ensure on-time commissioning and product delivery.
