About The Position

Gillmore is seeking a Security Technician with a strong background in at least one of the following areas: IP cameras, access control, or fire alarm systems. This role involves servicing both residential and commercial business installations, requiring previous experience in home security installation and commercial service work. The technician will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance on various security systems, including CCTV, surveillance cameras, access control systems, card readers, wireless/hardwired keypads, DVRs, burglar, and fire alarm systems for residential and enterprise customers. The position requires providing onsite support, conducting system testing, training clients, diagnosing technical issues, and documenting all activities. Technicians will collaborate with team members, follow up on service tickets, adhere to safety protocols, and stay updated with new security technology. Participation in an on-call rotation is required. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, mechanical aptitude, and an adaptive personality, as they will be interacting with multiple customers daily. A company vehicle with a gas card will be provided, and technicians will manage their assigned inventory.

Requirements

  • Strong background in at least one of the following areas: IP cameras, access control or fire alarm systems.
  • Previous experience doing home security installation and commercial service work.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proven experience in field service installation, preferably in security or related systems.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to interpret schematics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Demonstrated skill set in multiple disciplines of low voltage security, fire, video and access control systems.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work at heights using scissor lifts or similar equipment.
  • Experience with products such as Honeywell, DMP, Axie, etc.
  • Experience Servicing/Troubleshooting - Glass Breaks, Motion Detectors, Window/Door Contacts, CCTV Systems.
  • Experience replacing batteries and updating hardware.
  • Experience prewiring existing homes and new construction sites.
  • Must be very motivated.
  • Ability to put up with the worst case scenario situations "with a smile".
  • Great communication and documentation skills.
  • Must be able to work with various stakeholders and vendors.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with fire and security systems industry extremely helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain security systems at client sites, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Provide onsite support for customers through alarm panel diagnostics, physical wiring and repair of devices, programming and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete installations efficiently and accurately.
  • Conduct system testing and provide training to clients on system operation.
  • Diagnose technical issues and perform repairs or escalate as necessary.
  • Document installation processes and service activities thoroughly.
  • Follow up with coordinators or department managers on any open service tickets, jobs and inspections.
  • Adhere to company policies and safety protocols at all times.
  • Keep up-to-date with new security technology developments.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Perform Installs, Troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on security, wireless communicators, CCTV, DVR, card access, burglar and fire alarm systems for residential and enterprise customers.
  • Cost the part of their truck stock and keep good record of all parts assigned as equipment is used.
