The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential and light commercial HVAC systems. This role also includes participation in an emergency on-call rotation, including holidays, responding promptly to urgent service needs to ensure customer comfort and system reliability. This role ensures high-quality customer service by communicating effectively, providing expert recommendations, and executing repairs and maintenance with professionalism and efficiency.

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain residential and light commercial HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits.
  • Perform routine maintenance services to optimize system performance and longevity.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system efficiency and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Conduct thorough system inspections and document findings for customer and company records.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and follow industry best practices to ensure accurate and efficient service.
  • Install and replace parts as necessary, ensuring compliance with manufacturer guidelines and company standards.
  • Greet customers professionally and establish rapport through effective communication.
  • Actively listen to customer concerns and accurately summarize issues before proposing solutions.
  • Provide clear explanations of system conditions, recommended repairs, and available service options.
  • Offer and explain Cooper Heating and Cooling’s GCM maintenance plans to customers as part of proactive system care.
  • Present additional product and service offerings that enhance indoor comfort, air quality, and energy efficiency.
  • Address customer objections with confidence and provide solutions based on their needs and budget.
  • Follow all company procedures and safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Maintain an organized service vehicle stocked with necessary tools and inventory.
  • Complete service tickets and required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal HVAC regulations and industry standards.
  • Participate in ongoing training and stay updated with new technologies and best practices.
  • Participate in holiday and normal on-call rotation for emergency service calls.
  • Minimum of 2 years of residential HVAC Experience (or relevant technical training).
  • EPA Certification (Type I & II or Universal) required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a clear, customer-friendly manner.
  • Professional appearance and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions and lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Experience with boiler systems is a significant plus.
  • NATE certification is a plus but not required.
