About the position

The Service Technician position at Goodwin Tucker Group involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration equipment, and HVAC equipment at customer job sites. The role requires effective communication with customers regarding services performed and collaboration with dispatch and parts departments. Technicians are expected to maintain their tools and company vehicles, participate in ongoing training, and be available for overtime and weekend shifts as part of a rotating schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive to work site on time
  • Read and interpret work orders and repair tickets, making accurate and legible notes
  • Properly troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration equipment, and/or HVAC equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance contracts
  • Fill out work orders completely
  • Define service problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for estimates or proposals
  • Communicate with customers regarding repairs and with dispatch regarding job status
  • Order correct parts from the parts department
  • Maintain communication with General Manager or Service Manager on difficult calls
  • Collect on tickets as needed
  • Research service history for customers’ equipment
  • Keep certain warranty parts for return to respective factories
  • Maintain own hand tools and tools provided by the company
  • Maintain company vehicle, keeping it clean and inventory maintained
  • Be available for overtime calls and weekend schedule
  • Participate in Service Department training and meetings
  • Help customers with part requests and technical questions
  • Use a personal computer and operate VMS software to look up part info
  • Travel to branch locations as needed
  • Repair certain in-shop equipment
  • Read and follow company procedure manual and safety rules
  • Take part in continuing education and industry certification
  • Cross train for other positions as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • EPA certification for refrigeration technicians
  • Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration, and HVAC equipment
  • Strong safety consciousness and adherence to lockout/tagout training
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or as a team player
  • Ability to work courteously with customers, co-workers, and factory personnel
  • Ability to concentrate, handle pressure, meet deadlines, and pay attention to detail
  • Good organizational skills and self-motivation
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize
  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor
  • Maintain a positive attitude under stress
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Completion of a satisfactory background check and drug screen
  • Valid driver's license and driving record that aligns with safety standards
