The Service Technician is responsible for the technical repair and service work for a wide range of low voltage systems. They provide diagnostic review, repair, and replacement of parts as well as the replacement and installation of equipment.

  • Diagnosing issues and performing system upgrades.
  • Managing inventories of tech equipment.
  • Assisting with software installations and updates.
  • Maintaining customer relationships based on dependability and honesty.
  • Ensuring long term customer relationships are protected by providing value added services and effective communication.
  • Bridging communications between customer’s personnel and Suburban’s team members.
  • Establishing service by studying system requirements; ordering and gathering components and parts; completing resolution; performing acceptance tests and commissioning.
  • Reviewing work orders and job files for all pertinent data including job layout drawings, specifications and other technical data.
  • Troubleshooting and identifying malfunctioning or inoperative equipment and cause of failure on systems including CCTV, Fire Alarm, Burglar Alarm, Card Access, Paging, Structured Cabling.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience with electronics and/or low voltage systems.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
  • Must be certified in CPR and First Aid or able to obtain certification shortly after the start date.
  • NFPA70E training.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Understanding of computer systems and network devices.
  • Understanding of the mechanical functionality of equipment.
  • Ability to understand and apply NFPA70E to the equipment being worked on.
  • Understanding of NEC and NFPA code and apply these standards to the work being performed.
  • Advanced power tool utilization.
  • Advanced data and security device knowledge.
  • Ability to troubleshoot processes and systems.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Certifications like BICSI, Low Voltage Technician certifications, or NICET.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and national building codes, safety protocols, and industry regulations for low voltage installations.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair low voltage system malfunctions.
  • Experience managing or assisting with low voltage system installations.
  • Comfort working in various environments, including residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
  • Basic knowledge of networking and understanding of network protocols.
