About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Service Technician with Heavy Hydraulic & Trash Truck experience to join our team at Reliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in repairing and maintaining a wide range of Trash Trucks, Grapple Trucks, Sweepers and other Industrial Equipment. This role involves diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring the optimal operation of Trash trucks used for refuse routes and settings. The position offers an opportunity to work with a variety of machinery, including new and used trash truck bodies, grapple trucks, street sweepers and other heavy-duty equipment, utilizing your mechanical and electrical skills to deliver exceptional service. As a Service Technician Mechanic, you will be working on sewer cleaners, vacuum excavators, street sweepers and related accessories.

Requirements

  • Proven 3 plus years of experience as heavy equipment or refuse body technician.
  • Strong knowledge of Refuse (Trash, Garbage) Truck bodies, hydraulics systems, schematics, and electrical systems.
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL Preferred)
  • Proficiency with schematics, OEM manuals, and diagnostic tools for troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Experience with welding, fabrication, soldering, brake repair, wheel alignment, and heavy lifting techniques.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as forklifts or trash trucks safely.
  • Knowledge of power tools and hand tools used in maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical capability to perform lifting of up to 70 lbs. and perform repairs in various positions.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair refuse truck bodies, street sweeping equipment, and heavy-duty and hydraulic vehicles such as tractors and hydraulic truck body applications.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks including hydraulic oil changes, pony engine repairs, electrical body trouble shooting and repairs, hydraulic cylinder and valve body replacements and hydraulic system repairs.
  • Perform service calls around North Texas
  • Utilize OEM schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, hydraulics, and air over hydraulic systems.
  • Fabricate parts or modifications using welding, soldering, and other fabrication techniques to meet specific repair needs.
  • Operate power tools, electrical meters and hand tools safely and efficiently to complete repairs and assembly tasks.
  • Write detailed service records for all repairs performed on customer equipment.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Assist with equipment assembly or installation as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair status and recommendations clearly to your shop manager.
